Not all kamado grill cooking grates are the same. Primo Oval grills use split grates, Kamado Joe & Saffire use hinged, and most other brands use a one piece design. Take a look at how they differ below:

	Hinged Cooking Grid: Hinged cooking grate allows you to add charcoal or wood while cooking
	Split Cooking Grid: Reversible design allows you to flip them over and cook closer to the fire Split design allows you to raise grids on one side
	One Piece Cooking Grid: Standard one piece design, grate must be removed to add charcoal or wood
