The Sargent 281 series industrial door closers are engineered to meet the demands of architects and building owners. The UL listed, ANSI A156. 4 Grade 1 closure is ideal for schools and hospitals maintaining cast iron specs. The 281 series features high strength construction, adjustments for closing and latch speed, and rack and pinion operation for a smooth, controlled closure of the door. The valves are captivated to prevent vandalism and the high tensile springs are heat-treated for durability. The hold-open door closer is adjustable spring sizes 1 through 6. This heavy-duty cast iron door closure is non-handed, meaning it can be installed, without modification, on either a right or left hand door. The closer is packed with all necessary hardware for mounting in any of the traditional installations: regular arm, parallel arm, track or top jamb. All Sargent 281 door closers have all-weather fluid which allows the door closer to perform in extreme temperatures without adjustment. Self sticking templates, machine screws, and self tapping screws are all included. Door closers meet ADA requirements and retrofits existing Sargent 250/1250 series closer installations. Heavy duty forged steel arms are finely finished and interchangeable between Sargent 281 and 1431, 250, 1250, and 351 series.
