The Elite series by Traeger combines the rich, full flavor of wood-fired cooking with modern precision. Featuring high quality stainless steel trim, convenient side tables and enclosed storage space, the Traeger Select Grill is where style meets functionality. This grill is constructed of powder coated steel, and boasts 36,000 BTUs of cooking power. The 589 square inches (31 X 19) of porcelain coated grilling surface produce excellent sear marks, while being easy to clean. The versatility of this pellet grill allows you to smoke at temperatures as low as 180 degrees and then crank it up to 450 degrees to sear to perfection. The Digital Elite controller displays the temperature inside the grill on the bright orange LED panel and is monitored by a resistance temperature detector probe which keeps the preset temperature within 20 degrees. The natural airflow inside of the grill allows for convection cooking, so you can bake a pizza right on your grill and do not have to turn your meat, unless cooking with high temperatures or if you want even grill marks. Traeger grills feature an auto-start system that is simple and safe to use. When you turn on the grill, the auger begins to feed pellets into the firepot while the draft induction fan feeds air into it. The igniter rod is activated and glows red hot for the first four minutes to ignite the pellets in the firepot. These cost-effective pellets burn at a rate of only 2 lbs per hour on high heat, 1 lb per hour on medium heat and only 1/2 lb per hour when smoking.

Brian bennett Kansaa Verified Reviewer | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Great smokerBought it new 7-8 years ago & never a problem. I love the storage. The grease bucket is inside so it doesn't get knocked over. Kept outside, even without a cover it never failed in in a Midwest winter. | Was This Helpful? |
Steve Mees Undisclosed Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 First pellet grillMy wife bought this used from friends of ours in 2019 barley used and cheap. No problems with it so far. I don't think Traeger makes this model anymore so I hope I can get parts when it breaks down... | Was This Helpful? |
G Grass North Carolina Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 COOKING ON MY TRAEGER HAS BEEN A PLEASUREI have now owned my Traeger Select Elite pellet grill for about 6 years. I will never go back to conventional gas, charcoal, electric or any other sort of grilling device. I have cooked literally several tons of meat on this grill and everything has turned out to perfection. I keep a (Q Log) of everything that is cooked on this grille. It keeps me focused on technique and assuring that my next butt, brisket or whole pig turns out as good as the last. In reality though, I set temps and let the grill do the work. I previously and enthusiastically reviewed this grill several years ago. I am still delighted with everything we cook. We have been reverse cooking steak for a couple of years now and have not had one bad steak. We have large family and friend gatherings. We put on the hog and enjoy the results. I know there are a lot of newer brands of pellet grills out there. I watch some of the (Best Pellet Grills) video's. Most of the time, Traeger Grills are in the top of the list. Being the original has some importance. I first became aware of Traeger Grills back around 1994 while I was traveling in Oregon on business. I had stopped at a barbecue joint for dinner one evening. I tried both brisket and smoke salmon. Both were absolutely fabulous. I commented to the owner that he had cooked up some great food. He offered to show me his grill. I had never seen anything like it. He had bought a commercial Traeger on wheels in which he cooked several whole pigs at the same time. He had perfected his operation around this grill. Years later, I finally bought my Traeger. I love this grille, how it operates and how well everything cooks up. Again, after 6 years, I must say that at this point, I would highly recommend a Traeger Pellet Grill. It can make someone whom is fair at grilling into a master griller! | Was This Helpful? |
Sue Dillon Island Lake, Illinois Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Best grill ever!!!!We absolutely love our Traeger. We smoke pork shoulders for pulled pork, we always cook out pork chops on it because they always come out so juicy and tender. We use it for cooking frozen pizza and ribs. I love love love it!!! Only downfall is we live in Illinois and can't cook on it during the winter because it won't stay up to temperature. They need to come out with a blanket for the bigger model. Never will be without a Traeger. | Was This Helpful? |
Brandon Clyde Lemoore, CA Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Definitely worth itWill never go back to propane, holds temp and great customer service. | Was This Helpful? |
George Curran Kelowna BC, Canada Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 We Love our TraegarHad this grill for a year and we absolutely love it! I was new to smokers and was a bit shy to start but now we are full on. Can't go wrong using the Traegar App for ideas and easy fail-safe recipes! | Was This Helpful? |
Mark Cave Pendleton, Oregon Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Great grillI have had this for over a year now and it is big enough to cook anything you want on it. The only problem is I cant find the correct drip trays for this one. | Was This Helpful? |
maxine feil Rancho Murieta CA Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Just gets betterI have had my grill for several years and I enjoy it as much today as when I first bought it. The food is always done right and I do not have to worry about flare ups. I am a walking ad for Traeger. Several friends and family have purchased Traeger since seeing mine. Thanks for making this grill so simple | Was This Helpful? |
Brad Wolter Canton, MI Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Best purchase I've made in decadesI bought my Traeger a little over 3 years ago. Since, then I have become the destination point for most of my friends and relatives. Nobody can get enough of the deliciousness that keep coming off the grill. Always cooks to perfection. Tender and juicy meats. Smoky veggies and cheeses. Even breads and desserts. I truly look forward to making crowd pleasing foods each and every day. | Was This Helpful? |
Michael Hayes Fargo, ND Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 5.0 Great Grill, Great FoodMy wife bought this grill for me for Father's Day 2019. It looked good and I had heard from others that had Traeger grills made great food...but I just could not bring myself to spend the money. She got it and said once I had it, I would probably use it all the time. Yes...she was right. :-) I use this grill every chance I get. For the first 3 months or so, I do not think our oven was ever used. I cooked and smoke almost everything on it . Burgers, brisket, roasts, veggies, desserts, pizza,...everything. We love it for pizza and I am willing to trudge out to the grill in snow and rain to make it.. So, in spite of my hemming and hawing for so long...it is one of the best purchases we have ever made. | Was This Helpful? |

Expert Review
Back to TopThe Skinny:
- The original wood-fired pellet grill brand
- Dual probe meat thermometers (Pro Series only)
- Fully-enclosed storage cart
- Large capacity hopper
- Convenient grease management system
- Stainless steel shelves.
Things We Love:
Traeger Select pellet grills are user-friendly, affordable and attractive, bringing a classic grill design to a pellet grill. The Select body and hood is made of cold-rolled, powder coated steel, and also features stainless steel shelving and trim. The Select is offered in two series, Pro and Elite.
The hopper is able to hold up to 18 pounds of pellets, which will allow you to grill and smoke longer than you'll probably ever need to. Located on the hopper, is the digital control panel, featuring a bright blue LED display and simple temperature control knob. The auto-start system allows to simply flip the power button to “on”, set the dial to your desired temperature, and walk away.
Utilizing the classic gas grill design and exhaust, this grill tends to spread heat more evenly across the grilling surface than barrel style pellet grills, making for less hot and cold spots. On top of that, the stainless steel trim and stamped Traeger logo, colored hood make this grill one of the best-looking pellet grills on the market.
While the Select Pro and Elite series look like the same grill, the Select Pro offers a few upgrades, and since they're the same price, I really recommend the Pro every time. First, the Select Pro includes a removable warming rack, giving you a much more generous grilling area, with 806 square inches of porcelain coated grilling grates. The Select Pro comes with a built-in dual-probe thermometer that allows you to monitor the temperature of two different types of meat at once on the grill. Inside the grill, the temperature is constantly monitored by Traeger's best controller that keeps the set cooking temperature within +/- 15 degrees at all times while cooking.
Things To Consider:
While Traeger will definitely get the job done when it comes to cooking, their grills maximum temperature is 450 degrees, while other brands can get as high as 700 degrees.
You'll Like This Grill If:
You want that trusted Traeger name and like the gas grill styling over the old barrel smoker look.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
