 | So far, so good!So far, so good! I have used this griddle for a little more than a month and like it so far. I made a bunch of Oklahoma smashburgers for a group of friends that have become the most requested dish I make! Had plenty of room for double patties for everyone and I love the rack for quickly putting bread, etc once it's cooked. I like that I can control the temp into different zones from ultrahot to medium or even low. You definitely will want an IR temperature gun. And be sure to buy the grease pans specifically for Halo, or you will have a mess. My only negative is the user guide. I got through all of the assembly and seasoning and THEN the instructions said to wash the griddle first. Grrrr! Other than that, great griddle! | Was This Helpful? |
| Some might say I'm obsessed!This was my first-ever outdoor griddle and I have no regrets for choosing Halo! It is so well built and sturdy... much more high-quality feeling compared to the griddles I checked out in stores around me. I had no issues seasoning the plate and it's been super non-stick since. The size is perfect for me, I usually cook for 2-6 people. Breakfast has been one of my favorite things to cook on it! I started using an infrared temp gun to learn the temps but after just a few cooks I've found it's really easy and intuitive to manage temperatures on this griddle. | First Impressions - Improvements NecessaryI leveled, cleaned, and seasoned my new griddle today prior to my first cook. I'm happy with the performance overall but there are some definite improvements necessary to get this piece of equipment to be reflective of what Halo is selling. First of all, the little wrench they include for adjusting the casters is useless; this tool is oversized and barely grabs the nuts on the casters. Save the frustration; throw this thing in the garbage and replace it with something that fits the hardware. The casters themselves only have about an inch or so of threads, which is really not enough to level this to anything other than a perfectly sloped driveway or patio; the reality is that if you adjust any wheel more than about a half inch, there will not be enough thread contact remaining to safely handle the weight of this appliance, especially if you hit a crack in concrete moving it in and out of the garage, for example. That said, the casters are very nice and appear as if they'll hold up well over time. The level they include would make more sense if it had two horizontal bubbles so that you could see both axes simultaneously, instead of one horizontal and one vertical. Aside from the length of threads on the casters, these are mostly small details; small details are what makes an appliance such as this actually worth Halo's MSRP, however. In this respect, I feel like Halo has fallen short and these criticisms are the reason I dropped one star; I would have gone to 3.5 if that was an option. As far as performance is concerned, this thing is a beast. The griddle is thick and heavy and the burners heat pretty evenly; I had absolutely no trouble setting temp zones, even being my first time using a propane griddle. The stand and housing are built very well and look and feel strong. I did feel like the work surface is a little too tall; two inches off the stand would have made it more comfortable for me but, I'm also fairly short so this shouldn't be an issue for most people. | Was This Helpful? |
